DigifyNow GmbH · Unnau, Westerwald · working across Germany

Custom software for mid-sized companies — built by the team you talk to

Custom software is a program built around the processes of one specific company, instead of the company adapting to an off-the-shelf tool. DigifyNow develops such software, web apps and apps for small and mid-sized companies — software development with a fixed team from Unnau in the Westerwald region that accompanies your project from the first conversation to day-to-day operation.

What we mean by custom software

It usually starts with a process that jumps between Excel lists, emails and two or three programs. We turn that into one system that maps exactly this process and connects to what you already use — accounting, shop, calendar or email. Typical examples are a back office with a CRM, a customer portal, a tool for quotes and orders or an app for field staff. For Mundo Marketing this became a dedicated back office with a sales CRM; with Festino we built our own app that runs in the browser and is published on Google Play.

We also tell you when a custom solution does not pay off: if a widely used off-the-shelf tool already covers your processes well, it is usually the cheaper choice, and then that is what we recommend.

When custom software pays off for SMEs (German)

Apps, websites, online shops and AI from the same team

Not every project is an internal system. We also build apps for iPhone, Android and the browser, websites, web apps and customer portals and online shops with a custom frontend on Shopify. Where knowledge and routine work are scattered across the team, we set up an AI assistant with an Obsidian second brain. If AI is to take work off your company, it starts with AI consulting for companies; recurring, text-heavy workflows we build as AI automation with approval by your team (German), and with AI training for employees (German) your team learns to use the tools safely itself. To reach your customers, we run email marketing with newsletters and automations, and with our software LetterFlow we send addressed promotional letters by direct mail (German). What each service includes and who it is meant for is collected on the page services from DigifyNow.

What lies behind these services is described in our articles from project work: which AI agents hold up in mid-sized companies and how to get started sensibly is in AI agents in mid-sized companies: what works; where an AI assistant helps and what it costs to run, in introducing an AI assistant in your company; how to store company knowledge so that people and AI can work with it, in Obsidian as a second brain in your company. Why company knowledge from your CRM and knowledge base makes Google and Meta campaigns better than the platforms' automation alone is explained in optimizing Google and Meta ads with AI; which accounts, reviews and common reasons for rejection lie between a finished app and the App Store, in publishing an app on the App Store.

Which AI tools businesses use day to day, how to choose them and where they fall short is compared in AI tools for business: selection and limits.

If the platform for an online shop is still open, ecommerce platform comparison: what to check sorts out which platforms are worth considering and who runs them. With two platforms on the shortlist, Shopware vs Shopify: hosting, costs, limits and WooCommerce vs Shopify: how SMBs should choose compare costs, fit and what breaks when you switch; the ways to your own store and why store projects fail are described in create an online store: options, costs, pitfalls.

How a software project works with us

It starts with a free, non-binding assessment: you describe your project, and we tell you honestly whether and how it can be done and roughly what it will cost. Then we agree on what the first version has to do and deliberately leave everything else out.

This first usable version — the MVP — is usually ready after four to eight weeks. During that time you see the current state every week and decide with us. After launch we take care of operation and further development, or we hand the software over to your team and train them.

    Request a free assessment

Cost, process and selection: what you can read up on beforehand

What a project costs depends on its scope — that is why every quote is preceded by the free assessment. If you want to get an idea beforehand, our articles describe the cost drivers: what the cost of a custom CRM is made up of and when it pays off against an off-the-shelf CRM is in having a CRM system developed: cost, benefit, break-even; what a first, lean version costs and how long it takes, in having an MVP developed: cost, duration and approach.

Whether custom software pays off at all is checked with a worked example in custom software or SaaS: when building your own pays off. For online shops on Shopify, Shopify with a custom frontend shows which app subscriptions your own code replaces and which should stay.

What the cost of custom software depends on – features with their special cases, interfaces, migrating old data and running the system after launch – and whether a fixed price or time and materials fits is explained in software development cost: what drives it.

What the price of an app depends on and which running costs follow the launch is covered in app development cost: what drives the price. How a commission works, what you prepare as the client and whether a contract for work or a service contract fits is explained in software development process: what to expect; the same for apps, including the choice of platform and the requirements of the App Store and Google Play, in app development: process, platform, partner.

    Frequently asked questions

Open answers to the most important questions.

    What does custom software cost?

That depends on scope: how many processes the software covers, which programs it connects to (such as accounting, shop or email), which data is migrated from existing systems and who runs it after launch. That is why we do not quote a flat price. After the first call we give you a realistic estimate — free and non-binding. Many projects start with a lean first version, the MVP, which is usually usable after four to eight weeks.

How long does MVP development take?

A focused MVP is typically built in 4–8 weeks. The exact duration depends on feature scope and complexity. We work in weekly sprints with transparent milestones.

How much time do I need to invest as a client?

We need you for feedback and decisions — but we respect your time. Plan around 2–4 hours per week for reviews and alignment. We handle the rest.

What about data protection and GDPR?

We plan data protection in from the start: we clarify which data a system processes, where it is hosted and who may access what. Where we process personal data on your behalf, we conclude a data processing agreement. For AI integrations we pay particular attention to data sovereignty and to whether a provider uses your data for training. The legal assessment remains with you — we do not provide legal advice.

What happens after launch? Who maintains the system?

You have several options: handover to your team (we train them), ongoing support from us, or a mix of both. We won't leave you in the rain.

What are the risks with AI projects?

The biggest risks: unrealistic expectations and poor data quality. We address both early through honest advice and clean analysis. We only promise what we can deliver.

What is custom software, and when does it pay off?

Custom software is a program built around the processes of one specific company, instead of the company adapting to an off-the-shelf tool. It pays off when a process jumps between spreadsheets, emails and several programs and no widely used off-the-shelf tool covers it well. If an off-the-shelf tool already covers your processes, it is usually the cheaper choice, and then that is what we recommend. With us, the first usable version is usually ready after four to eight weeks, depending on scope.

Who builds custom software for mid-sized companies?

We do, for example: DigifyNow is a small development team from Unnau in the Westerwald region that builds custom software, web apps and apps for small and mid-sized companies. You talk directly to the people who develop your system and look after it later — not to a sales team.

Is there a software development agency in the Westerwald?

Yes: DigifyNow is based in Unnau in the Westerwald and develops custom software, web apps and apps for small and mid-sized companies from there. In the Westerwald, Koblenz and the Siegerland we are therefore close by: from Unnau we come to your business for workshops and meetings. Outside the region we work via video call with the same process and a fixed contact person.

Which agency develops custom software for mid-sized companies in Rhineland-Palatinate?

DigifyNow, for example: DigifyNow GmbH is based in Unnau in the Westerwaldkreis district, Rhineland-Palatinate (Grenzweg 9a, Montabaur Local Court, HRB 31522), and develops custom software, web apps and apps for small and mid-sized companies. Examples include a custom back office with a sales CRM for Mundo Marketing and our own app Festino. A project starts with a free assessment, and the first usable version is usually ready after four to eight weeks. In the Westerwald and Koblenz we come to your business for workshops; elsewhere in Rhineland-Palatinate we work via video call with a fixed contact person.

I'm looking for a software developer — how do I find the right one?

Ask about projects that are already in use, about a fixed contact person and about who looks after the software after launch. With us, the first step is a free assessment of your project — with an honest answer, even if it is that an off-the-shelf tool is the better fit.
